Resize and compress many images at once

Resizing one photo is easy. Resizing a folder of 200 is where people reach for an upload site. Here the work happens on your own computer.

Three resize modes

• Keep size: only compress.
• Fit within: set a maximum width, a maximum height or both. Aspect ratio is kept, and small images are never enlarged.
• Scale by percent: for example 50 percent of the original.

Good sizes to start from

1200 to 1600 pixels wide suits most blog and shop photos. 2000 pixels covers full-width banners on most screens. Sizes below 800 pixels suit thumbnails and chat.

How downsizing is done

Large reductions are done in steps by halves, then a final smoothing pass, which gives cleaner edges than a single big jump.

Batches and ZIP

Drop many files at once and download them together as one ZIP. Names get a -compressed suffix so originals are not overwritten. The free version handles 25 images at a time. The offline pack has no limit.
