How to sign a PDF without uploading it

Keep the document on your device

Signing sites ask you to upload the contract first. A browser tool that runs locally places your signature on the page without sending the file anywhere.

Draw, type or use an image

Draw with a mouse or finger, type your name in a script style, or use a photo of your signature on white paper. Plain white is made transparent so the signature sits cleanly on the page.

Place it where it belongs

Click on the page to place the signature, then drag it into position and use the size slider. You can add typed text, such as a name or address, and today's date, and move between pages.

What it does and does not do

The tool adds an image to the page. It does not create a digital certificate or an audit trail, and it does not by itself make a document legally signed. Some documents need a certified e-signature service. Ask the other party what they accept.

Fillable forms

If the PDF has form fields you have already filled in another viewer, you can flatten them so they become fixed page content. Do that last, because flattened fields can no longer be edited.

Do it in your browser

The Sign / fill tab in the Xargaar PDF Toolkit does the steps above. Files stay on your device. The free version produces up to 100 pages per output file.
