Why people use it
The code runs in this page. There is no server that receives your PDFs. The hosted page may load tool files when needed. Use the separate offline pack for reliable disconnected operation.

Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. Files are read and changed by code running in this page. Nothing is sent. You can check this by turning off your connection after the page loads and using a tool.
How does Compress work, and what does it cost in quality?
Compress draws every page as an image and rebuilds the PDF from those images. That can make scanned and photo-heavy PDFs smaller, but the text is no longer selectable or searchable. If the result is not smaller than the original, the tool says so and you keep the original. Use the quality setting to trade size against sharpness.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
Use the Unlock tab with the password to save an unprotected copy, then use the other tools. The other tabs show a clear message if a file is locked. Unlock does not guess or crack passwords.
Is a signature added here legally binding?
The Sign tool places a signature image, typed text or a date on a page. It does not create a digital certificate or a signing audit trail. Whether that is enough for a given document depends on the document and where you are, so check with the other party.
What does it not do?
It does not edit text inside a page or add certificate-based digital signatures. For scans, the separate OCR Toolkit makes a PDF searchable. It does not convert Word or Excel files.
What about very large files?
Everything runs in your browser memory, so a file of several hundred MB may be slow or fail. Split large jobs into parts.
Does Remove metadata clear everything?
It clears title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer in document info, and resets its dates to 1 January 1970. It does not remove text or images inside the pages, or XMP metadata blocks that some tools add.
