How to merge several CSV files with different column order

The usual problem

Files exported at different times often have the same columns in a different order, or one extra column. Pasting them together puts values under the wrong headings.

How matching works

The first row of each file is the header. Columns with the same name, ignoring case and surrounding spaces, are lined up. A column that exists in only some files gets blank cells in the others.

Know where each row came from

Keep the option on that adds a Source file column. It makes later checks and clean-up much easier.

Steps

Add all the files, open Merge, and press Merge and download. You can save as CSV, Excel or JSON.

Before you merge

Make sure each file really has a header row. If the first row is data, the merge will treat it as a column name.
