Statement Merger

Twelve statements in. One workbook out.

Drop your monthly bank or card CSVs. The tool merges them, removes rows repeated by overlapping statements of the same account, sorts every transaction into categories you can edit and downloads one Excel file with a category summary and a month-by-month table. Your files stay in this browser tab.

Drop statement CSV files hereOne or many. CSV or TSV. Click to choose. Nothing is uploaded.

Each file below has an account name, a date order and a money direction. Files with the same account name are treated as overlapping statements of one account and repeated rows are counted once. Different account names are never merged. Use one currency per merge.

How it works

1. Drop your CSVs

Date, description and amount (or debit and credit) columns are found automatically. Day-first and month-first dates both work.

2. Check the sorting

Each row gets a category from your rules. Edit the first 400 displayed rows with their drop-downs, or edit the rules and apply to all rows.

3. Download

One .xlsx with three sheets: Transactions, By category and By month. The summary sheets are formulas linked to the Transactions sheet. Existing summary rows update; add a summary row for any new category created in Excel.

Questions

Are my statements uploaded?

No. The files are read and merged by code running in this page. There is no server that receives them. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.

How are overlapping rows handled?

Give overlapping files the same account name, for example "Checking". If the same date, amount and description appears in two of those files it is counted once, and the removed rows are listed so you can check them. Identical rows inside one file are kept, because two coffees on the same day are real. Rows from different account names are never merged. Turn the option off to keep every row.

Is the categorising accurate?

It is keyword matching, not a guess by a model. It is only as good as your rules, so always scan the table. Anything unmatched is shown as Uncategorised so nothing is hidden.

Credit cards and currencies?

Many card exports show charges as positive numbers. Set Money direction to Credit card for that file and the signs are flipped so charges count as money out. Amounts are added as plain numbers with no currency conversion, so merge one currency at a time.

Can it read PDFs?

This tool reads CSV files. For PDF statements use the Statement Converter first, then drop the CSV here.

Is this accounting or tax advice?

No. It sorts and totals rows you give it. Check the result before you rely on it.
