Manuscript in. EPUB and print PDF out.
Drop in a Word, Markdown or text manuscript. Build an EPUB to review in your reading app, and a paperback interior PDF with the right margins for the page count, running heads, page numbers and a contents page. It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, in your browser, and your book is never uploaded.

Questions
Will KDP accept the files?
We cannot promise that. The PDF uses embedded fonts and margins at or above the KDP minimums for its page count, which we took from the KDP help page. KDP checks every upload itself. Preview your book in KDP's previewer before you publish.
How is this different from Vellum or Atticus?
This runs in a modern browser on Windows, Mac or Linux. It does less. There is one clean book style, not a library of themes, and no cover designer. If you need those, use them.
What does it not do?
It reads text, bold and italic, chapter headings, scene breaks and sub-headings. Images, tables and footnotes in a Word file are not carried over, and the page tells you when it skipped any. The paperback PDF is for left-to-right Latin-script text (Gentium Basic font) and is not hyphenated. Characters the font lacks show as a question mark, and the page tells you which. It makes no cover.
Is my manuscript uploaded?
No. Reading, formatting and file building happen on your device.
What fonts are used?
Gentium Basic by SIL International, under the SIL Open Font License. It is embedded in your PDF.
