Reshape any bank CSV for QuickBooks Online and Xero.
Drop in the CSV from your bank. Choose which columns hold the date, description and amount. You get the 3-column QuickBooks Online file and the Xero bank statement CSV, with one date format and money out as minus numbers. Nothing is uploaded.
Built from Intuit's published 3-column format and Xero's published statement import rules. Tested only on made-up files, never on a live QuickBooks or Xero company, so the import itself is not guaranteed. You choose every column and sign setting: nothing is guessed. Check the totals shown against your bank before you import. This is not accounting advice.
Set these to match your file before you drop it. One file at a time, up to 40 MB.
Choose the columns
What it does
Reads your CSV and lists its columns. You pick the date, description and amount columns. Every date and amount is read strictly, and a bad row stops the file with its row number.
Shows money in, money out and net so you can compare with your bank. Zero amounts, digit-only descriptions and repeated rows are flagged.
The pack writes a QuickBooks Online Date, Description, Amount file and a Xero Date, Amount, Payee, Description, Reference, Cheque Number file.
Pay once. Reformat every bank file.
- Up to 60,000 transactions per file instead of 10.
- Both the QuickBooks and the Xero file from one upload.
- One folder that opens in your browser with no internet. Your bank data stays on your computer.
Questions
Which QuickBooks format does it write?
The 3-column format from Intuit's guide: Date, Description, Amount, with payments as negative numbers and deposits as positive. The 4-column format is not written.
How are the signs decided?
You decide. With one amount column, choose whether your payments are already negative or positive. With separate money out and money in columns, the money out column becomes negative. Nothing is guessed from the description.
What does Xero need?
Xero's guide says you only need Date and Amount, with income positive and expenses negative in one column and no commas. Payee, Description, Reference and Cheque number help reconciling. The file uses those headings. Xero's own headings vary by region, so you may need to assign columns when you import.
Why did it flag zero amounts?
Intuit says to remove zeros from the file. Delete those rows in your file, then drop it again.
What about text starting with = + - or @?
An apostrophe is put in front, so a spreadsheet does not read it as a formula. Everything else is copied as it is.
Credit card files?
Intuit says to choose the credit card account when you upload. Xero says payments to a card are positive and purchases negative. Check the signs against your card statement before you import.
