remove.bg is moving to Canva. Keep another option.
As checked on 15 October 2026, the notice on remove.bg says its background removal is moving to Canva and its standalone website will no longer be available from 1 December 2026 at 9:00am CET. That notice does not say Canva background removal is ending.

A different tradeoff
Our tool runs U²-NetP in your browser using WebAssembly. It makes a first cutout, then lets you erase or restore areas by hand. Your photo is not uploaded to a server. It is independent of remove.bg and Canva.
Not a like-for-like quality claim
This small model estimates a mask at 320px. It can miss hair, fur, translucent objects and low-contrast edges. We have not completed a licensed head-to-head benchmark against remove.bg, and we do not claim matching quality.
How to use it
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels.
- Wait for the local model, then inspect your cutout.
- Use Erase or Restore if needed, choose a background and download a PNG.
