Authorize.net Settlement Summary - preview, not yet checked on real exports

Turn an Authorize.net transaction download into totals per settlement day, type and status.

Drop in the Download to File you get from the Authorize.net merchant interface. See each settlement day by Transaction Type, status and currency: settlement amount and total amount, added up exactly as written. Card, bank and customer columns are never read. The pack adds a transactions CSV and a settlement days CSV. Nothing is uploaded.

Tested only on made-up files, never on a real Authorize.net download. Column names and the date style (21-Aug-2002 03:26:12 PM MDT) come from the Authorize.net help page for the Expanded Fields download. The download needs its column headings (the Include Column Headings box is on by default). That page documents no sign rule for refunds or voids and no link between Settlement Amount and Total Amount, so nothing is checked and amounts are summed as written. Names, addresses, emails, card and bank numbers, invoice text and ship-to details are never read. This is not tax advice.

Set these to match your files before you drop them. Nothing is guessed. Limits: 20 files, 40 MB each, 200 MB in total, 60,000 rows per file and 300,000 in total.

Drop your Authorize.net download here, or click to chooseSearch, Download to File, with Include Column Headings on. Several files at once are fine. Several files at once are fine.

What it does

Read

Finds the documented columns by header name and checks the settlement dates, currencies and every amount. A bad row stops the file with its row number.

Summarize

Settlement amount and total amount for each settlement day, split by Transaction Type, status and currency.

Hand over

The pack adds a transactions CSV and a settlement days CSV you can open in any spreadsheet.

Questions

Which file do I use?

In the Authorize.net merchant interface, search for transactions and choose Download to File. Pick Expanded Fields/Comma Separated for transaction version 3.1 (the Standard formats are tab delimited) and keep Include Column Headings ticked. Drop one or many.

Which date is used?

The date in Settlement Date/Time exactly as written, which Authorize.net says is in your account time zone. No time zone conversion is done. Rows with no settlement date are kept together under a label.

Why no checks?

Authorize.net explains each column but gives no sign rule for refunds or voids and no link between Settlement Amount and Total Amount. So the tool adds each column as written and never adds different currencies together.

What counts as a repeat?

The same Transaction ID, Transaction Type and Transaction Status. Repeats are counted, not removed, and the downloads wait until you tick the box.
